What the discovery conversation is for
Discovery is a fit and next-step conversation. It helps establish what you want to understand, what information is already available and which questions need more attention. You do not need to decide on a larger engagement before discussing fit.
Possible discussion points include the customers you serve, what they need to know before choosing you, and any confusing public information you have noticed. Keep the discussion connected to the business outcome you are trying to improve.
Prepare a short business summary
- Your public website and a brief description of the service you want to discuss.
- The audience and market you serve.
- One or two customer decisions that are difficult to explain clearly.
- Questions raised during the workshop.
- Your preferred language and any scheduling requirements.
Share only information you are comfortable discussing. Public examples are usually a useful starting point; confidential customer records and credentials are not needed for a general fit conversation.
